Sri Vijaya Puram, June 4: The collapse of a newly built retaining wall near the Judges’ Quarters has triggered serious concern, with demands for an immediate, impartial, and time-bound investigation into the incident to know that reason behind the incident.
Mr. Angshuman Roy, State Youth President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti (ANI), has said the incident raises important questions about the quality of public infrastructure works, which are funded by taxpayers’ money. He stressed that any structural failure of this nature must be thoroughly examined to determine possible lapses in construction standards, engineering design, supervision, and overall accountability.
Mr. Roy urged the administration to initiate a comprehensive technical inquiry to identify the exact cause of the collapse and to assess whether there were any deviations from approved specifications, use of substandard materials, or negligence during execution. He further called for strict action against any executing agency or responsible officials “if” irregularities are found during the investigation.
As a precautionary measure, he also recommended a detailed structural audit of the remaining portions of the retaining wall as well as similar infrastructure in the surrounding area. According to him, such preventive inspections are necessary to avoid any further incidents that could pose risks to public safety or result in loss of life.
Emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability, Mr. Roy stated that there should be zero tolerance for compromise in construction quality and misuse of public funds. He added that restoring public confidence requires prompt corrective action and strict enforcement of standards in all infrastructure projects.
The statement underlined the importance of ensuring that such incidents do not recur, calling for stronger monitoring mechanisms and greater responsibility from executing agencies involved in public works.
