
Harinagar, May 31: Er. Nageswar Rao , Executive Engineer (Rural), Electricity Department, Rangat Bay, visited the Harinagar Panchayat Bhawan today to discuss and address various issues related to electricity infrastructure and manpower shortages in the area.The Executive Engineer was accompanied by Er. Prosenjit , Junior Engineer, Site Office Nimbudera. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Shri Manojit Halder , Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Harinagar. The meeting was attended by Smti. Mamta Biswas (Up-Pradhan), Shri Subash Samadder (PRI Member), and Smti. Sabitri Burman (Up-Sarpanch).
During the meeting, Shri Manojit Halder raised several concerns regarding the functioning of the Electricity Department’s Nimbudera Site Office. He informed that despite repeated requisitions submitted by the site office, the non-availability of essential electrical materials and peripherals has adversely affected the smooth functioning of the office and the timely delivery of services to the public. The Pradhan also highlighted the acute shortage of manpower at the site office, pointing out that only one lineman is presently posted there. He stated that the shortage of linemen and meter readers has made it difficult to attend to public complaints and maintenance works promptly. The Panchayat representatives further requested the department to shift electricity poles located in paddy fields to the roadside to improve safety and facilitate agricultural activities.
Shri Manojit Halder also informed the Executive Engineer that the shifting of electricity poles by NHIDCL has been completed in most areas; however, the work remains pending along the Thoratang –Tugapur stretch. He requested the department to coordinate with NHIDCL and take necessary steps to expedite the shifting of the remaining poles. After hearing the concerns in detail, Er. Nageswar Rao assured the Panchayat representatives that he would take up the matter with the higher authorities and make every effort to ensure the availability of required materials, address the manpower shortage, and resolve the issues raised at the earliest.
