As part of the 25 Day Countdown Programme leading up to the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, the AYUSH Wing of the Directorate of Health Services and the A&N State Ayush Society (NAM) successfully organised a “Heritage Yoga” session in front of National Memorial Cellular Jail today. The programme highlighted the significance of yoga in promoting holistic health and well-being while connecting participants with the rich heritage of the islands. The historic monument, a solemn symbol of India’s freedom struggle, added great significance to the programme and reflected the timeless values of India’s cultural heritage and the ancient practice of yoga.
A total of 47 participants enthusiastically took part in the yoga session. The event was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Nandini, MO I/c (Y & N), AYUSH Hospital, along with the dedicated support of yoga instructors. Participants actively performed various yoga asanas and breathing practices, and were encouraged to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily routine for maintaining physical, mental and emotional wellness.
