Sri Vijaya Puram, May 24: A 36-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a graveyard shed in Dollygunj, triggering a murder investigation after what sources said was a violent altercation during a late-night gathering involving alcohol consumption.
The deceased has been identified as V. Shankar, aged 36, a resident of Garacharma. According to information received, on 24 May 2026 at around 0915 hours, Police Station Pahargaon was alerted after a man was discovered lying lifeless at the Christian Graveyard in Dollygunj.
Sources said that preliminary findings revealed Shankar had been consuming alcohol with his friends at the graveyard shed on the night of 23 May 2026. Two other individuals, reportedly visitors from Mayabunder, were also present at the location and had been resting there after consuming alcohol. Soon an altercation broke out when the deceased objected to their presence. It is learnt that during fight both persons assaulted the deceased with fists and kicks. What initially appeared to be a casual gathering allegedly turned into a fatal confrontation. After attacking Shankar, the two accused allegedly fled the location, leaving him behind without seeking any assistance.
When locals and associates later reached the spot, Shankar was found unresponsive. He was subsequently declared dead. The incident created shock in the locality
Following the discovery, an investigation was launched. Sources said the case was worked out swiftly by PS Pahargaon, and both accused persons were identified and apprehended. The arrested individuals have been named as K. Krishna and Sagar Kumar. During questioning, both accused allegedly confessed to their involvement in the incident. Police also recovered blood-stained clothing worn by the accused.
