Port Blair, June 10: The Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) has sealed yet another building at Junglighat area of Port Blair city for violating Municipal Building Bye-laws.
In last three months the PBMC has sealed dozens of such buildings in Port Blair city, creating a ripple in local society.
“The building was constructed on plot Survey No. 1079/14/1, covering more than the recorded area and also by exceeding the maximum plot coverage. The set back available at site is less that the required setback, which are non-compoundable offence,” the Secretary of PBMC said in a press release.
He said that in this case, on noticing the violation, Port Blair Municipal Council has issued stay order and notice to stop the unauthorized construction. But the party continued the construction work by ignoring the Council’s Order.
“Thus the aforesaid building was sealed,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Port Blair Municipal Council has further stated that similar action will be taken in all major un-authorised constructions.
“Builders have to follow the law in force for the benefit of their own interest, failing which consequences will follow,” the Secretary PBMC added.
