
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 20: Five BA History II Year students from Mahatma Gandhi Government College have joined Gram Panchayat Basantipur for their summer internship programme under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The internship programme, scheduled from 20 May 2026 to 05 July 2026, aims to provide students with practical exposure to rural administration, Panchayati Raj institutions, developmental activities, maintenance of public records, and community engagement at the grassroots level. The students participating in the internship are Sabita Das, Altab Aziz, Praveen Kumar, Dev Bairagi, and Abdul Wahab.
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. P. K. Mondal, Lecturer, MGGC Mayabunder; Mr. Ramkrishna Roy, Pradhan, GP Basantipur; Mr. Bibuthi Ranjan Biswas, Up-Pradhan; Mrs. Bithika Roy, Panchayat Secretary; Mr. Arindum Dutta, Sub-Depot Incharge; Miss M.Priyadarshini, Incharge, SMF Nimbudera and Mr. Manoj Kumar, KVK Nimbudera. The dignitaries encouraged the students to actively participate in the internship programme and gain practical knowledge about grassroots governance and rural development administration.
Gram Panchayat Basantipur welcomed the students and appreciated the initiative taken by the college administration in promoting experiential learning. The Panchayat assured full cooperation, guidance, and support to ensure the successful completion of the internship programme and hopes that the students will gain valuable knowledge and experience through their association with the Panchayat.
