Sri Vijaya Puram, May 13: An awareness programme on the Unique Disability ID (UDID) Scheme was organized on 13th May 2026 at 10:00 AM at Community Health Centre, Bambooflat, as part of its focused initiative to extend awareness on the UDID Scheme to rural areas of South Andaman, ensuring that Persons with Disabilities in these areas are able to access government benefits and services.
The programme witnessed participation from the Medical Officer of Community Health Centre, Bambooflat and his team, Anganwadi Workers, ASHA Workers, and the general public.
During the programme, State Coordinator (UDID), Directorate of Social Welfare, sensitized the participants on various aspects of the UDID Scheme, including the benefits of the UDID card, registration process, disability certification process, and technical aspects related to online registration, encouraging eligible beneficiaries to register under the scheme. Further, Disability Incharge, highlighted the various government schemes and benefits available for Divyangjans, emphasizing the importance of obtaining a UDID card to avail such services.
An interactive session was also conducted with the Anganwadi Workers and ASHA Workers, during which their queries regarding disability certification, registration, and government welfare schemes were addressed. The Department is committed to the effective implementation of the UDID Scheme in close coordination with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring greater awareness, outreach, and access to welfare services for Persons with Disabilities. Programme aimed at creating awareness and promoting registration under the UDID Scheme to ensure better access to government benefits and services for Persons with Disabilities.
Programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the support and active participation of all attendees.
