On the occasion of the Foundation Day of Maharashtra and Gujarat, I extend my warmest greetings to the people of these two great states, especially those residing in these islands.
As we mark the 66th anniversary of their formation on May 1, 1960, this year’s celebration stands as a tribute not only to a historic milestone but also to the enduring spirit of resilience, progress, and rich cultural heritage that these states embody.
Maharashtra, with its illustrious legacy inspired by the valor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, stands today as a symbol of industrial strength, artistic excellence, and progressive thought. From the vibrant dynamism of Mumbai to the cultural richness of Vidarbha, the fertile lands of Marathwada, and the scenic charm of the Konkan Coast, Maharashtra truly reflects unity in diversity.
Gujarat, the birthplace of great visionaries like Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, has emerged as a model of development and entrepreneurship. Its vibrant industries, thriving ports, and rich cultural traditions exemplify the spirit of innovation, enterprise, and determination of its people.
This year’s celebrations further reinforce the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” where regional excellence strengthens the unity and integrity of our nation. It is also an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of social justice, equality, and sustainable development principles that will continue to guide our collective future.
Once again, I convey my heartfelt greetings to the people of Maharashtra and Gujarat. May this Foundation Day inspire pride, unity, and renewed dedication towards building a Viksit Bharat@2047.
