Sri Vijaya Puram, April 24: A 31-year-old woman from Mizoram has alleged that she was sexually abused by an unidentified man in Round Basti area of Sri Vijaya Puram, prompting police to initiate an investigation into the incident.
According to a statement recorded at the Aberdeen Police Station’s Child and Women Helpdesk, the complainant, a resident of Mizoram, had recently arrived in the islands on April 13 from Chennai. She stated that she had previously worked in spas in the Andaman Islands between 2020 and 2024 before returning to her hometown and later working in Chennai. During her current visit, she was staying with a friend at a spa in Bathu Basti.
In her statement, the woman alleged that on the evening of April 22, she had gone to a local restaurant along with her friend. She claimed while her friend was drunk and down, an unknown youth approached her and persuaded her to accompany him. Despite her refusal, she alleged that the man forcibly took her outside, made her sit on his motorcycle, and drove her to a house in the Round Basti area.
The complainant further alleged that the accused behaved inappropriately, abused her, and issued threats before forcibly engaging in sexual acts against her will. She stated that she managed to escape from the location and reached the main road, where she remained in distress until she was noticed by a policeman on patrol, who assisted her and brought her to the police station.
As per last report after the complaint the police found the room locked and the accused was absconding but till last report poured in the accused, has been finally arrested by police. Further details are awaited.
