Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 19: In a serious criminal case, six individuals have been arrested in connection with the alleged repeated sexual exploitation and administration of intoxicating substances to a minor girl over a prolonged period of nearly one and a half years.
The matter came to light after the minor’s health condition deteriorated significantly. Preliminary investigation indicates that the accused allegedly subjected the victim to repeated sexual exploitation while also administering narcotic substances, thereby making her dependent. It is further alleged that the victim was exploited by multiple accused during the course of the incident.
Since the victim is a minor, her identity and any details that may lead to her identification are being withheld in accordance with legal provisions.
Sources mentioned that the accused might have targeted other girls too as they follow social media to contact girls and make friendship. Police teams are looking at all possible angles it is learnt.
It is expected that more arrests are likely in next few days. The probe is also focusing on individuals suspected of introducing the victim to drugs and those involved in the supply chain of narcotic substances linked to the case.
The case has raised serious concerns over prolonged undetected exploitation and highlights the increasing threat of drug abuse and its misuse among vulnerable sections of society. It also points towards the wider issue of narcotics penetration and youth involvement in substance-related activities.
