
Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 10: An insightful expert talk on the theme “From Student to Startup Founder” was organized at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Sri Vijaya Puram by the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) aimed at fostering entrepreneurial thinking among students.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal, JNRM. She highlighted the need of inspiring entrepreneurship ideas among students.
The expert talk was delivered by Mr. Ankush Das, an alumnus of JNRM and emerging entrepreneur and founder associated with the marine-tech startup – VYASN, which focuses on building a sustainable seaweed ecosystem. Highlighting real-world challenges, the speaker discussed the issue of income instability among farmers and presented seaweed farming as a viable solution contributing to both economic stability and climate sustainability. During the talk, Mr. Das elaborated on the fundamentals of startups, defining them as innovative, high-growth ventures designed to solve specific problems. He clearly distinguished between a traditional business and a startup, emphasizing innovation and scalability.
Encouraging students to take initiative, he concluded with an inspiring message:
“The next startup from Andaman can come from this room. Start small, think big, act now.”
The session was highly interactive and motivated students to explore entrepreneurship as a career path. Faculty members and students appreciated the practical insights and real-life examples shared during the talk.
