Chainpur, North & Middle Andaman, Apr. 9: Hanspuri village under Gram Panchayat Chainpur is grappling with a severe and persistent power crisis, causing widespread inconvenience to residents and seriously affecting the education of school students. The lack of reliable electricity supply has emerged as a major concern for the villagers, who have been raising the issue repeatedly without any concrete resolution so far.
According to Pradhan Mr. Johnson Kerketta, the situation is particularly alarming in the Hanspuri Government Middle School, where despite the availability of eight computers, students are unable to benefit from computer education due to the absence of electricity during school hours. He pointed out that in today’s digital age, access to basic computer learning is essential, but the ongoing power cuts have deprived students of this crucial opportunity.
The electricity shortage has also made it difficult for students to attend classes comfortably, as they are forced to sit in extreme heat and humidity. This not only affects their concentration and academic performance but also poses risks to their health and well-being. Teachers and parents have expressed concern over the deteriorating learning environment in the absence of a stable power supply.
Residents of Hanspuri have long been demanding a 24×7 electricity supply to address these issues and improve their quality of life. The Gram Panchayat has specifically urged the concerned authorities to install a proper cable system from Bajota to Hanspuri to ensure a consistent and uninterrupted power supply in the village.
The key demands put forward by the villagers include the provision of electricity during school hours, round-the-clock power supply across the village, and immediate intervention by the Electricity Department to resolve the crisis at the earliest.
Pradhan Mr. Johnson Kerketta has appealed to the administration to take urgent steps to address the issue, emphasizing that reliable electricity is not just a basic necessity but also vital for education, development, and overall well-being of the community.
