Port Blair, June 03: A public toilet was constructed long back at the Wandoor Jetty area for the convenience of public and tourists. But to the dismay of all the visitors the Public Toilet is always found locked, for reasons unknown.
“Tourists visiting this place must get all the amenities. Tourists mostly remain away from their hotel for entire day and hence they often need toilet blocks badly in tourist spots but if those are kept locked then where would visitors go to relieve themselves,” an angry tourist told Andaman Sheekha.
The said toilet block, has two different entrance for male and female and it has been found that both the doors are locked.
“The Humpherygunj Panchayat is charging money from every vehicle, entering the Wandoor Jetty area. Even from local residents the Panchayat is taking entry fees. Where this money goes? Why can’t use the same money for providing atleast basic amenities to tourists visiting the Wandoor area,” questioned a local tourist.
However, the Pradhan of Humpherygunj Panchayat was unavailable for a comment.
