Revised Load Shedding Schedule Announced; Duration Reduced to 45 Minutes in South Andaman

Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 06: It is hereby brought to the notice of the General Public, all Government Departments, and all Private Organizations that the earlier load shedding schedule dated 16.12.2025 had an average load-shedding duration of 60 minutes. However, during March 2025, only 45 min of load shedding was actually implemented approximately.

The Department is working on different augmentation projects across South Andaman to enhance power generation capacity and to significantly reduce or completely eliminate load shedding. With the Addition of  2.5 MW generating capacity at Phoenix Bay Power House and Commissioning of new 5 MW Plant by M/s Modern Hiring Services on  03/02/2026, the shortage has been reduced considerably.

Now the new load shedding schedule has been prepared for only 45 minutes during Evening hours especially and Day and Night hours load shedding has been exempted.

Day and night time load shedding, if required, shall be purely depending on unforeseen shortages if occur, which depends purely on weather conditions & other technical breakdowns.

Further steps are being taken to further reduce the duration of load shedding and to fully eliminate the cause. Projects underway are –

1) 10 MW HPP- M/s Sudhir Sales & Services Ltd. is expected to be commissioned shortly.

2) 3 x 2000KVA D.G. Sets in house augmentation at PBPH under tendering process.

3)7 x 2000KVA D.G. Sets in house augmentation at CPH under tendering process.

The Administration reiterates that to overcome the dependency of consumers in the grid supply, the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojna is nowadays playing a significant role by providing subsidized initial investment contributing substantial energy bill saving and selling surplus power to the grid leading to financial liberation and energy independence. 

Therefore it is an Appeal to the consumers that to install solar roof top in each and every domestic household and obtain the full benefits of PM Suryaghar scheme and become Prosumers from Consumers and also contribute to the Net Zero emission goal of India.

Public cooperation is crucial in overcoming present challenges to conserve electricity 

The schedule will be in place for minimum 30 days with immediate effect

AREA WISE TENTATIVE LOAD SHEDDING SCHEDULE FOR EVENING HOURS 

All the Consumers of electricity department are requested to conserve electricity and regulate consumption of use of electricity.
