
Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 05: CPI (M) Middle Andaman Area Committee organisedd a public meeting at Billiground bazar (03.04.2026) evening. Addressing the public meeting, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee criticized the central government for not completing the renovation work of National Highway-66 even after 10 years. People living in the North and Middle Andaman District have expressed their ire on a number of occasions in the past few years, but the Modi government has never heeded to such protests. Referring to the growing unemployment in the islands, Ayyappan said that successive governments at the centre, led by Congress and BJP, have done nothing to create jobs for the youth in the islands. He expressed concern over the shortage of LPG cylinders in the islands and blamed the government for its failure to ensure adequate LPG cylinders for the islands.
Addressing the public meeting Projit Kumar Sarkar, CPI (M) State Secretariat Member accused the BJP government at the centre for the chaos situation created in the higher education sector by establishing a Deemed University and affiliating all the colleges under it. He said that islanders do not want Deemed University and the central government has imposed it on the islanders. SR Mridha, Secretary, Middle Andaman Area Committee who presided over the meeting bruiefly explained the local issues on which the general public of the Billiground area are agitating frequently.
State Secretariat Members Nikunjo Biswas and PK Khalid and Rahul Dev Mridha, State Organising Committee Member were also present on the occasion.
