Harinagar, April 01: A couple of days back, Andaman Sheekha Daily published a report on the issues raised by the Billiground Market Committee regarding the deplorable condition of NH-4, along with the severe pollution and health hazards caused during the road construction by NHIDCL, and as an impact of the news, it resulted a positive outcome.
Speaking to ASD, the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Harinagar Shri Manojit Halder said that there has been reportedly a prompt intervention from the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, the Deputy Commissioner (N&M Andaman), and the Executive Director of NHIDCL following the three-day strike by the Billiground Market Committee and the publishing the news on the matter. NHIDCL commenced repair work by requesting the Construction Company CSE Construction (India) Pvt.Ltd . on 26 March 2026 and the CSE Construction Company successfully completed the market stretch by 31 March 2026, while the residents in the area have reportedly breathed a sigh of relief, the Pradhan further added.
In a gesture of goodwill, Mr. Halder has reportedly appreciated and thanked the Chief Secretary A & N Islands, Deputy Commissioner N& M Andaman, ED NHIDCL and CSE Construction for addressing the concerns promptly and ensuring a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for the entire local community, he said.
