Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 31: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, conducted a comprehensive veterinary outreach camp at Hanspuri village on 30th March.
During the visit, the veterinary team collected blood samples from livestock for sero-monitoring, distributed essential medicines to animal owners, and provided fodder seeds to interested farmers for cultivation. Farmers were also briefed in detail about various schemes and benefits offered by the Department. A total of 32 animals, mostly buffaloes, were successfully ear-tagged under the National Digital Livestock Mission.
The team worked under challenging field conditions, with many cattle and buffalo owners finding it difficult to handle their animals. Despite these difficulties, the veterinary staff successfully completed all planned activities with full dedication.
This outreach programme reflects the Department’s commitment to reaching remote villages and delivering doorstep veterinary services, disease surveillance, fodder development support, and awareness on government schemes for the benefit of livestock farmers in the islands.
