Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 25: The MP Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray met Shri Kiren Rijiju the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Govt. of India in Delhi today to pursue expeditious sanction of 79 project proposals submitted by the A&N UT Administration amounting to Rs.44.61 crore under the PM Jan Vikas Karyakram for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The proposals aim at developmental works in minority-concentrated blocks of Ferrargunj, Rangat, Mayabunder, Car Nicobar, and Nancowry.
Besides this, the MP also appraised the Minister to consider for amendment of certain provisions of Salary and Pensions of MP’s Act 1954 so far concerned to airfare from Port Blair to Delhi for the MP representing A&N Islands in view of remote backward area.
During the meeting, the MP also invited the Minister to visit the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Minister has kindly consented to visit the islands and assured that the project proposals submitted under PMJVK will be duly considered for financial support.
