Mayabunder, Mar. 24: The observance of World TB Day 2026 with the theme ‘Yes we can End TB – Led By Bharat, Powered By Janbhagidar’ was held with great enthusiasm and active participation in the Conference Hall of Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder. In his address on the occasion, the chief guest, S. Krishna Chaitanya, Additional District Magistrate appreciated the collective efforts of the health department and the community in combating tuberculosis. During the programme, Pradhans were felicitated for achieving TB Mukt Panchayat Certification, recognizing their dedicated efforts toward eliminating tuberculosis at the grassroots level. Nikshay Mitras were also honored for their valuable contributions in supporting TB patients.
Dr. Alice Bwa, MO-DTC, Dr. Christina Rossity, District TB Officer N&MA and Madhava Rao, District Programme Coordinator (NTEP) also addressed the gathering. Earlier, the programme commenced with a bike rally aimed at spreading awareness about tuberculosis among the general public. The rally started from Dr. R. P. Hospital and proceeded up to the Petrol Pump, Panighat via APWD Guest House, drawing attention from the local community.
Cash prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions conducted during the month-long World TB Day activities. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Priyanka Iqbal, MO(Ayurveda).
