On the occasion of ‘’World TB Day on 24th March 2026, I reaffirm the A&N Administration’s steadfast commitment in our collective fight against Tuberculosis. This year’s theme, ‘Yes! We Can End TB: Led by Bharat, Powered by Janbhagidari,’ underscores our national resolve and the vital role of community participation.
While Tuberculosis remains a public health challenge, sustained efforts have yielded commendable progress. I am pleased to note that 38 Panchayats and 18 tribal villages have achieved TB-Mukt status this year under the ‘TB Mukt Panchayat Abhiyaan’.
The Administration has strengthened diagnosis, treatment, and awareness, particularly in remote and tribal areas, through advanced molecular diagnostics and portable X-ray facilities. Our healthcare professionals, ASHA workers, and community volunteers continue to ensure timely detection and adherence to treatment, supported by active case finding, nutritional assistance, and awareness campaigns.
Eliminating Tuberculosis requires a whole-of-society approach. Strengthening health systems, improving access to care, and addressing key social determinants—complemented by the noble contributions of ‘Nikshay Mitras’—are essential steps toward achieving a TB-free future.
I urge institutions and individuals across all sections to come forward and support this cause. Together, we can make significant strides in eliminating Tuberculosis from our Islands and beyond—because ‘TB Harega, Desh Jeetega.’
