
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 19: In a commendable initiative to promote inclusive healthcare, the National Helpline for Senior Citizens (14567), under the Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, organised a Free ENT Check-up Camp at Ullas Old Age Home, Attam Pahad, Sri Vijaya Puram, benefiting both elderly residents and children of Balika Niketan.
The camp was conducted in response to the healthcare needs identified during regular interactions with the Elder Helpline team. The initiative aimed to address common ear, nose, and throat ailments and to promote early diagnosis and preventive care among both senior citizens and children.
The medical team was led by Dr. Gurumani S, Head of the ENT Department, ANIIMS, Sri Vijaya Puram, who carried out detailed examinations and provided expert consultations. He also conducted an awareness session on common ENT issues such as hearing loss, ear infections, sinus problems, and throat-related ailments, emphasizing the importance of early detection and regular health check-ups.
The Project Manager of Elder Helpline 14567 welcomed the medical team and beneficiaries and highlighted the importance of the toll-free helpline, which operates daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, offering support, guidance, and field intervention services for senior citizens across the islands.
The In-charge of Ullas Old Age Home expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Elder Helpline team and the Directorate of Health Services for organising the camp and extending essential healthcare services to both elderly residents and children.
A total of around 60 inmates, children, and staff members of the Social Welfare Department benefited from the free ENT check-up and consultations.
This initiative reflects the continued commitment of the Elder Helpline 14567 towards ensuring the health, dignity, and well-being of vulnerable sections of society, while reinforcing the importance of accessible and compassionate community healthcare services.
