
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 27: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), in collaboration with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), conducted a practical demonstration on “Vaccination & Deworming Importance in Poultry” at the field of Mrs. Jalpana Mistry in R K Pur. A total of 15 participants, mostly members of Self-Help Groups, witnessed the live demonstration of vaccination and deworming in poultry birds and were sensitised about its critical role in preventing mortality and maintaining flock health.
The gathering was addressed by Dr. R K Singh, Retired Joint Director of the Department, who shared valuable insights on best practices. At the end of the programme, participants were distributed poultry feed worth Rs. 3,200/- to encourage adoption of scientific management. In another location, two dairy farmers were also supplied fodder stem cuttings to initiate backyard fodder plot development.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Promila Roy, Pashu Sakhi, who played a key role in arranging the demonstration at short notice. This initiative reflects the Department’s commitment to empowering farmers through hands-on training, disease prevention, and sustainable livestock practices across the islands.
