Port Blair, May 26: The President, office bearers and members of the Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry have mourned the demise of its ex-President, Mr GL Sharma. In the last five decades, Mr Sharma left an indefeasible mark in the economy of these islands and his pivotal role in the development of the Andaman Timber Industries between 1960 to 1990 will always be remembered, a release from the Chamber says.
Under his leadership from 1983 to 1987, the ACCI was greatly strengthened by his visionary leadership and he tirelessly worked for the betterment of the island’s economy as also the upliftment of the people by associating with social organizations like the Rotary Club, Chinmaya Mission and Rajasthan Manch. In his demise, the islands have lost a distinguished leader, the release added.
