Havelock, May 22: Shibu Oran, a Senior Manger of Zonal Audit Office, Punjab National Bank, Arera Hills, Bhopal today died at world famous Radhanagar Beach of Havelock Island.
According to reports, the accident took place when Oran entered into the sea for a bath, soon after reaching the Radhanagar Beach.
According to eyewitnesses, Oran was in waist-deep water and when he was hit by a towering wave he choked, which resulted in his death.
“We are waiting for the Post Mortem report, without which it is impossible to say whether the death was because of drowning or heart attack,” Mandeep Singh Randhawa, the Superintendent of Police of South Andaman told ‘Andaman Sheekha’ today.
Soon after the incident Oran was rushed to Primary Health Centre of Havelock Island, where he was declared brought dead. Shibu Oran, 42 years, is survived by his wife and a daughter.
According to reports Oran, who actually hails from Jharkhand, Ranchi was working in Bhopal and had reached Port Blair yesterday via Kolkata and from Port Blair he had gone to Havelock this morning by local ferry.
“There were life guards at the beach but before anybody could understand anything this incident took place,” said an eye witness at Radhanagar Beach of Havelock Island.
Presently arrangements are being made to send the body of late Shibu Oran to Mainland India by tomorrow’s flight.
This is second such death of a tourist at Radhanagar Beach of Havelock Island, this year. One January 1, 2013 software engineer from Infosys Hyderabad had also died at Havelock Island due to drowning.
