
Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 16: On the solemn occasion of the martyrdom day of freedom fighter and poet Dr Diwan Singh Kalepani, Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray visited Gurudwara Dr Diwan Singh, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 4th January 2026 to pay his respects.
The MP was welcomed by the Gurudwara Management Committee, led by President Mr. S. S. Saluja, along with office bearers and committee members. As a mark of honour, Vice Presidents Mr. B. S. Grewal and Mr. Ranjeet Singh Gill presented a memento to the MP, while General Secretary Mr. Swinder Raj Singh presented him with a bouquet.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray spoke in detail about the life, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions of martyr Dr Diwan Singh Kalepani, highlighting his role in India’s freedom struggle and his supreme sacrifice at the Cellular Jail. He emphasized the importance of remembering such great patriots and drawing inspiration from their lives and also appraised the Sangat about the supreme role of the Gurudwara that is seva towards humanity as a whole.
The programme concluded with soulful Gurbani Kirtan, followed by the distribution of Kada Prasad and Langar, which was attended by members of the sangat in a spirit of unity and reverence.
The Gurudwara Management Committee expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble MP for his visit and for paying rich tribute to the legacy of Dr. Diwan Singh Kalepani on his martyrdom day.
