Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 19: As a part of Nayi Chetna 4.0 – A National Campaign Against Gender Based Violence and Sexual Harassment Prevention Week – a one day Training Programme organized by One Stop Centre, Directorate of Social Welfare, A & N Administration in collaboration with HUB for Empowerment of Women and Women Helpline 181 on 18.12.2025 with the objective of enhancing awareness, strengthening institutional mechanisms, and building the capacity of Internal Committee (IC) members and stakeholders for effective implementation of the Act.
Smti Zarina Bibi, Programme Officer (ICDS) welcomed all the dignitaries, resource person, officers, Internal Committee members and emphasized the need to provide every woman with a safe, secure and dignified working environment.
A detailed technical session on the key provisions of the POSH Act, enquiry procedures, and best practices for ensuring a safe workplace, and functions of the Local Committee was conducted by Mrs. Shaima Shamim, Member, Local Committee, South Andaman. The session focused on statutory compliance, complaint handling procedures, principles of natural justice, and confidentiality norms.
As part of the training programme, awareness video clips were screened by Ms. Hemlatha, Gender Specialist, SHEW highlighted real-life scenarios and stressed the importance of respectful workplace behaviour and mental well-being of women.
Subsequently, a live demonstration of the SHe-Box Portal was conducted by Mrs. Neela Baidya, Central Administrator, One Stop Centre (OSC). The demonstration provided step-by-step guidance on online complaint registration, tracking, and monitoring, enabling participants to understand the digital redressal mechanism under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Mrs. Santhi Murugesan, Helpline Administrator, WHL 181 conducted an open question-and-answer session facilitated experience sharing and clarification of operational issues faced by IC members. Participants actively engaged in discussions related to enquiry procedures, documentation, and coordination with Local Committees.
The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Shweta, Nodal Officer, who appreciated the participation of all stakeholders and the department’s commitment towards creating safe, inclusive and harassment-free workplaces.
The training programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers, Internal Committee members and functionaries from various departments under the aegis of Shri Ravinder Kumar, Director (Social Welfare).
