Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 17: The Member of Parliament for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, has reportedly proposed the establishment of a Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) in Pokadera Gram Panchayat area of Mayabunder, aiming to strengthen access to quality education in the region.
Mr. Abdul Siddique, former Pramukh of Mayabunder told Andaman Sheekha Daily that in a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, the MP requested identification and earmarking of two acres of suitable land for setting up the school at the earliest. He stated that the earlier suggested land was found unsuitable due to encumbrances, necessitating an alternative site.
Mr. Ray further informed that he has already committed funds under MPLAD for the initial infrastructure development of the proposed school. The remaining formalities, as per CBSE norms, will be coordinated by the VKV authorities.
Meanwhile, Mr. Abdul Siddique, former Pramukh of Mayabunder, has expressed gratitude to the MP on behalf of local residents, stating that the initiative would greatly benefit children of the area by providing access to quality education and long-term academic opportunities.
