Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 17: Twenty NCC cadets from Andaman & Nicobar NCC embarked onboard an Indian Naval Ship on 17 December 2025 as part of the Param Vir Sagar Yatra, a symbolic sea expedition honouring the gallantry and supreme sacrifice of India’s Param Vir Chakra awardees.
The expedition is linked to the historic decision announced by the Prime Minister of India on Parakram Diwas (23rd January 2023), named 21 uninhabited islands in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands after Param Vir Chakra awardees. The cadets will visit all 21 islands in two phases.
During the first phase of voyage, the cadets will collect soil (Mati) in Kalash from each island, which will later be ceremonially presented to the Prime Minister during the Prime Minister’s Rally in New Delhi. The initiative aims to instill patriotism, discipline, and national pride among the youth.
Prior to embarkation, Lieutenant Commander Reyaz Farooq, Commanding Officer, 1 (AN) Naval Unit NCC, briefed the cadets on safety and onboard procedures. The briefing session was graced by the presence of Colonel T Hariteja, Group Commander, Chennai ‘A’ Group, and Colonel Kanwar Yudheshwar Singh, Commanding Officer, 1 (A&N) Army Unit NCC
