
Diglipur, Dec. 15: The week-long Vikas Mela-cum-DAY-NRLM, organised at Diglipur from Dec. 8 to 14 concluded successfully. The mela was organised with the objective of promoting rural development, women empowerment, self-employment, innovation, and creating awareness about various Government welfare schemes.
The concluding function was graced by Shri Shribash Chandra Das, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman, as the chief guest, and Shri S. Krishna Chaitanya, ADM/AC (HQ), Mayabunder, as the guest of honour. The event was also attended by officers of the District Administration, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, officials from various line Departments, members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), volunteers, and a large number of local residents.
Throughout the mela, Self Help Groups functioning under DAY-NRLM showcased a wide range of products, skills, handicrafts, and livelihood activities, which received overwhelming appreciation from the public. The event also featured cultural programmes, sports activities, and departmental stalls, making it both informative and engaging for visitors of all age groups.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Rajendra Kumar, Block Development Officer, Diglipur, stated that the Vikas Mela exemplified strong community participation, effective inter-departmental coordination, and collective effort. The Vikas Mela-cum-DAY-NRLM has thus emerged as a significant initiative towards the overall socio-economic development of the Diglipur region.
