Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 05: A five-day capacity-building workshop dedicated to preparing academic tools and competency-based sample question papers for the Foundational Learning Study (FLS) 2026 began today at the State Institute of Education (SIE), Port Blair. The workshop will run from 5th to 10th December 2025.
Organised as part of the preparatory roadmap for FLS 2026, the workshop aims to design high-quality, foundational-level assessment instruments in Literacy and Numeracy. These tools will play a vital role in ensuring robust measurement of learning outcomes and strengthening the overall quality of the forthcoming national study.
During her interaction with the participating tool-setters earlier in the day, the Principal, SIE, commended their commitment and emphasised the importance of accuracy, clarity, and academic rigor in developing competency-based assessment items. She encouraged the participants to integrate innovative, learner-friendly, and contextually relevant approaches while framing the questions, ensuring they reflect real classroom learning scenarios.
The workshop is expected to produce a comprehensive set of validated sample question papers and supporting tools that will assist schools across the Union Territory in preparing effectively for the FLS 2026 exercise. The outcomes of this initiative are also likely to contribute significantly to strengthening foundational learning practices in the region.
