
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 04: The One Stop Centre, Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, organized an Awareness Programme on Women-Related Schemes & Laws and Cyber Laws on 28 November 2025 at Kamraj School Brookshabad.
The programme began with welcome remarks by the Principal of Kamraj School who greeted the Resource Persons and the students attending the sessions.
Ms. Rukhsar Rahim, Para Legal Lawyer, One Stop Centre, briefed the participants on the services of One Stop Centre scheme under the Directorate of Social Welfare. The scheme provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, offering services such as medical, legal, police assistance, psychological and counseling support and a minimum of 5 days of temporary shelter. These services are available both in private and public spaces, under a single roof. She also explained important points of Cyber Laws and guided students on safe online behaviour in today’s digital world.
She explained various types of cybercrimes including email scams, social media fraud, fake account, identity misuse, Indecent Touching, Voyeurism, Stalking, Defamation etc. During the session, the Resource Persons shared important helpline numbers including Women Helpline 181, Child Helpline 1098, and the Cybercrime helpline 1930 and One Stop Centre Contact No.03192-234221
Mrs. Jyoti, Sub-Inspector (SI), explained the POCSO Act, its key provisions, and how the law protects children from offences, types of Sexual offences against Children, child friendly Officer, role of Child Welfare Committee, Reporting False complain, protecting Identity of Child and Trial Procedure. She also spoke about the rights of the girl child, encouraging students to be aware and speak up against any form of abuse.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about safety, legal protection, and support services available for women and children under various government schemes. The programme attended by the 192 students of the school under the aegis of Shri Ravinder Kumar, Director (Social Welfare).
