Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 27: Following the recent rate changes introduced by GST 2.0, the GST Department of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has observed that several businesses in the region are still not complying with the updated GST rates, regulations & exemptions, despite ample time having passed since the changes came into effect.
In response, under the leadership of Commissioner, UTGST, teams are conducting random inspections of businesses in Sri Vijaya Puram since 22nd September, 2025. During these checks, on-the-spot penalties are being imposed where discrepancies are identified. The GST department has recovered a total of 3.63 lakhs of penalty from businesses who are not following the rules and regulations of GST. This drive will continue to ensure the proper implementation of the revised GST rules, so customers receive the intended benefits of the new changes.
All businesses are hereby reminded that adherence to the rules and regulations set forth by the GST Department is mandatory. Non-compliance will result in penalties as per GST law.
