Baratang, Nov 26: A massive nine-day search operation concluded on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, with the successful rescue of a 72-year-old retired government servant from the Forest Department who had been missing in the rugged jungle area of Baratang.
The missing person, Mr. Eliazar Sharan Surin, son of the late Raphael Surin, and a resident of Naya Garh-II (Baludera), had been reported missing since the early morning of November 18, 2025, at 4:00 AM.
After an intensive search effort involving the police, Forest Department staff, and local villagers, Mr. Surin was finally traced alive today, November 26, from the Roglachang forest area of Baratang.
Forest Department personnel located the elderly man and immediately informed the police. Mr. Surin was promptly rescued from the jungle and admitted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Baratang, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The news of his safe return has brought immense relief to his family and the residents of the village.
