Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 24: After being appointed as the President of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan (RGPRS), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, by the All India Congress Committee, Mr. O. Basir began his responsibilities by visiting the residences of senior Congress leaders to seek their blessings and good wishes.
Mr. Basir met several senior leaders including Mr. Rangalal Halder (PCC President, A&N Islands), Mr. TSG Bhasker (Campaign Committee Chairman, ANTCC), Mr. Hamid Ali (AICC Member & former INTUC Vice President), Ms. Shanta Laxman Singh (former Chief Commissioner Advisory Committee Member), Mr. Jagsingh (former Pradhan), Mr. MZ Siddiquee (former General Secretary, TCC), Mr. K. Ganeshan (former Chairperson, Municipal Council), along with other senior Congress workers. He honoured them by presenting traditional shawls as a mark of respect.
All the leaders extended their blessings and conveyed their good wishes to Mr. Basir. They also assured full cooperation and support in strengthening the Congress Party and the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Expressing gratitude, Mr. Basir thanked PCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. Bhasker for placing their trust in him and assigning him this significant responsibility. He reaffirmed his commitment to work without discrimination for people of every section, community, caste and religion.
Mr. Basir further assured all Pradesh, District, Block, Unit-level members and PRI representatives that he will discharge the responsibilities entrusted to him with honesty, dedication and unwavering commitment.
