
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 24: The One Stop Centre, Directorate of Social Welfare, A & N Administration in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, organized an Awareness Programme on Women Related Schemes & Laws, and Cyber Laws at Govt. Tagore College.
Ms. Rukhsar Rahim, Para Legal Lawyer, One Stop Centre, briefed the participants about the One Stop Centre Scheme, its services, and the importance of understanding Cyber Laws in today’s digital environment.
She explained various types of cybercrimes including email scams, social media fraud, fake account, identity misuse along with women related crimes such as Sexual Harassment, Assault on Women/Indecent Touching, Voyeurism, Stalking, Defamation etc.
She further emphasized various preventive measures against cybercrimes such as using safe internet security suites, setting strong passwords that are difficult to guess, regularly changing passwords, and managing social media responsibly.
During the session, the Resource Person shared the helpline number for Cybercrime complaints – 1930.
Mrs. Neela Baidya, Central Administrator, One Stop Centre briefed the participants on the services of One Stop Centre scheme under the Directorate of Social Welfare. The scheme provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, offering services such as medical, legal, police assistance, psychological and counseling support and a minimum of 5 days of temporary shelter. These services are available both in private and public spaces, under a single roof. She also shared the address and Contact Numbers of One Stop Centre.
The Call Operator of the Women Helpline (WHL) provided information on Women Helpline 181, Child Helpline 1098, and key provisions of the POCSO Act, ensuring safety and protection of children from sexual offences.
The programme concluded with an interactive Question & Answer session led by the Principal, Tagore College and Dr Shweta, Nodal Officer (OSC). A total of 140 students participated enthusiastically, making the awareness session highly engaging and impactful under the aegis of Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Director (Social Welfare).
