Port Blair, May 08: The Directorate of Shipping Services is planning to make the Ship Ticketing Advance Reservation System completely web based and also to merge the entire system in Common Service Centers soon.
Talking Exclusively to Andaman Sheekha the Director of Shipping Services Capt. Rajinder Kumar today said that after lot of planning Ship Ticketing Advance Reservation System (STARS), the fully computerized ticketing system, was started, which is just phase I .
“In phase II we are planning to merge the ticketing system with Common Service Centers so that there will be a single window system for citizens, where they can get ship tickets and other facilities,” Capt Rajinder Kumar added.
He said that the plan is to dovetail the ticketing counters with the CSCs in all 56 locations.
“Wherever CSCs will be opened we will dovetail the ticketing counter. At one stage we will try to make it completely web based so that one can buy tickets online, like train and flight tickets. We are working on it hopefully everything will be sorted out,” the DSS said.
