Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 18: The Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman, Mr. Prashant Padda, IAS, undertook an extensive visit to various development sites under Gram Panchayat Harinagar on Monday. He was accompanied by Pradhan Mr. Manojit Halder, PRI members including Mr. Sankar Mondal, and officials of the Revenue Department.
During his visit to the quarry site, the Pradhan requested that permits be issued to allow the public to collect quarry rubbish for local requirements. At the PMAY(G) cluster in Harinagar-5, villagers expressed concern over the absence of electricity, water connections and proper rural connectivity, which has prevented beneficiaries from shifting to their newly built houses.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed proposed locations for a multipurpose building, market and post office, where set-apart proposals have already been submitted.
At the Panchayati Bhawan, Harinagar, the Deputy Commissioner was welcomed by Up-Pradhan Mrs. Mamta Biswas and felicitated by the Pradhan. A detailed interaction followed, during which he assured that steps would be taken to resolve key developmental issues at the earliest.
In the second phase of the visit, the team proceeded to Pinakinagar and Kamlapur, where the Deputy Commissioner examined the proposed solid-waste segregation site and inspected the sliding road near a government nallah in Kamlapur, assuring early repair through an appropriate agency. He also visited the proposed multipurpose building site and interacted with children and staff at the Anganwadi Centre in Kamlapur. The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of the administration’s commitment to addressing local challenges promptly and effectively.
