Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 13: The Hindu Rashtra Shakti, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has submitted a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands, requesting immediate special training for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) on their conduct and responsibilities during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
In its letter, the organization expressed concern over reports and social media posts showing certain BLOs in close association with political representatives while performing official door-to-door verification duties under the SIR process. Such incidents, it stated, may lead to a perception of partiality and could undermine public confidence in the neutrality of the electoral process.
The representation emphasized that BLOs play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the electoral roll, and therefore, maintaining strict neutrality is essential. It urged the Election Office to organize immediate and compulsory special training sessions for all BLOs, focusing on neutrality, proper conduct during fieldwork, and adherence to election protocols while interacting with political representatives and the public.
Hindu Rashtra Shakti further stated that reinforcing these guidelines through targeted training would help strengthen the credibility of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision and uphold public trust in the electoral system.
