
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 12: On the occasion of National Education Day, an interschool competition was organized at Ummat Public School, Sri Vijaya Puram, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister. The event aimed to highlight the importance of education in nation-building and to provide a platform for students to express their creativity and ideas.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Mrs. Zohra Begum, who emphasized the vital role of education in shaping young minds and the nation’s future.
A panel of distinguished judges evaluated the performances and creative works of the participants. The judges included:
• Mrs. Samira Begum, Lecturer in Psychology, Dr. S.R. DIET
• Mrs. Jyotsana Tripathi, PGT English, Saraswati Shishu Mandir
• Mrs. N. Neelam, GTT English, St. Mary School, Mohanpura
• Mrs. Sara Jadwet, an artist known for her passion for crafting beauty out of everyday materials
• Mrs. Taniya Chakrabarti, an artist with an exceptional flair for creativity and art & craft
The judges addressed the students and appreciated their enthusiasm and confidence. They encouraged them to participate in such events more often, reminding them that participation is as important as winning, as every experience provides an opportunity to learn and grow.
Students from various schools across the islands participated enthusiastically in competitions such as Elocution, Poem Recitation, Logo Making, and Bookmark Making, showcasing their talent and innovative ideas.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Miss M Thamarai Selvi Headmistress of UPS- Middle Point, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed judges, participating schools, and all those who contributed to the grand success of the event.
The celebration served as a reminder of the importance of education as the foundation of progress and empowerment, truly embodying the spirit of National Education Day.
