Port Blair, May 6: Responding to the request made by the PCC President, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma not to discontinue the mess facilities for the inmates of the girls hostel during the examination period, the Principal of JNRM, Dr. Iqbal Ahmed has agreed reopen the mess. Batting for the hostellers, the PCC chief opined that such a step was essential otherwise the girl students would be wasting lot of their valuable time during the examination in going out to have their food. Mr. Sharma had also taken exception to the college authorities asking the girl hostellers to take away all their belongings to their homes during the summer vacations after the exams. He felt that girl students who hail from different islands would be put to undesirable inconvenience if they were to transport their paraphernalia to their homes and bring the same back to the hostel after the vacations were over. The Principal has conceded that demand too and is taking necessary action to allow the hostellers to let their belongings lie, except valuables, in their respective rooms during the summer vacations. Mr. Sharma has thanked Dr. Iqbal for appreciating the problems of the hostellers.
