Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 06: The Zilla Parishad Member of Hut Bay, Mr. Vasudevan Nair, met senior officials of the Electricity Department, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary Dr. Sachin Shinde today, to discuss the ongoing power crisis that had gripped Little Andaman for the past nine days. The prolonged outage had severely disrupted normal life in Little Andaman.
During the meeting, Mr. Nair apprised the officials of the complete power breakdown and the hardships faced by the islanders. Responding to his concerns, Dr. Shinde assured that the administration was taking the matter seriously and had already initiated necessary measures.
Later speaking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Nair informed that an engineer, specially brought from Bengaluru, had been dispatched to Little Andaman to carry out urgent repair works. He added that all three DG sets in Little Andaman were technically sound, but two power boards had suffered major damage due to voltage fluctuation, causing the total disruption in electricity supply. As per the last report poured in this evening, the power situation has somehow normalized in Little Andaman after visit of the Engineer, Mr. Vasudevan Nair said.
