Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 17: The District Industries Centre, Department of Industries, A & N Administration, Port Blair organized a series of Awareness cum Motivational Programme on Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and other Govt. Sponsored schemes of the department at various pockets of Shaheed Dweep to disseminate information to the aspiring entrepreneurs about the PMEGP Schemes apart from other incentive-oriented schemes of the departments. The programmes were organized in association with PRI, Banks, & Tour Operators at Gram Panchayat Office, Vegetable Market Hall and Laxmanpur No.1 respectively.
The aspiring unemployed individuals of concerned areas participated enthusiastically, and a total of around 60 youths attended the programmes. They were motivated in setting up self-employment ventures under the Manufacturing, Service and Business sector by availing the opportunity under the PMEGP Scheme. The program also had interactive sessions for responding to the queries raised by the participants on the operating modalities, training, subsidy and timelines for obtaining benefit under the scheme. All the queries about the scheme were resolved on the spot.
Total, 07 (seven) youths expressed their willingness to avail the self-employment opportunity under PMEGP Scheme; the interested youths provided guidance on online filing documentation procedures required under the scheme. The identified youth were mainly interested in projects such as Car & Bike Rentals, Gym & Spa, Manufacturing of Packed Drinking Water, Digital Video Studio (Drone Based).
Besides promoting new entrepreneurs, an assessment was also made on the recovery and performance of the scheme in Shaheed Dweep and a recovery drive in association with Canara Bank was conducted for encouraging the defaulters under PMEGP for timely repayment of loans for settlement of subsidy and get access to the second loan under the scheme.
