
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 15: As part of the observance of World White Cane Day, the Block Project Office, Diglipur, under Inclusive Education, Samagra Shiksha, organized an Awareness Programme at GPS Ramnagar-II on 15th October 2025 to promote understanding of the significance of the White Cane among students, teachers, and the community.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by parents, teachers, and resource persons, marking the beginning of an enlightening session on vision well-being. The event aimed to raise awareness among parents, teachers, students, SMC/SMDC members, Anganwadi workers, and other stakeholders about the theme — “White Cane: Symbol of Independence and Inclusion – Awareness and Support for All.”A total of 43 participants actively took part in the event, which was organized into two insightful sessions:
• Session I: Mr. Manindra Mondal, Special Educator, BPO Diglipur, spoke on the History and Significance of the White Cane.
• Session II: Mr. Biswajit Das, Special Educator, BPO Diglipur, focused on Promoting Independence and Safety for Persons with Visual Impairment.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts and contributions of all participants and resource persons. The event reaffirmed the commitment of the Block Project Office, Diglipur, towards fostering Inclusive Education and promoting a supportive and inclusive society for the vision well-being of all.
