
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 12: On October 11, 2025, the ICAR Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Sri Vijaya Puram and Regional Station, Minicoy, Lakshadweep including all KVKs (South Andaman, North & Middle Andaman & Nicobar) successfully organized a farmer-scientist interaction along with the live streaming of the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses at the T.R Dutta Conference Hall, CIARI. The occasion was marked by the active participation of local farmers and the display of technological innovations developed by ICAR-CIARI for the benefit of the island’s farming community.
Dr. Jai Sunder, Director of CIARI, led the event accompanied by a team of scientists representing various fields including agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. The CIARI experts engaged in interactive discussions with attending farmers, emphasized the significance of the event, and highlighted the innovative technologies designed to support sustainable and productive agriculture on the islands.
A total of 185 participants took part in the event among which 141 participants belong to farming community (51 Males and 90 Females) in ICAR-CIARI alongwith 106 farmers in KVK, South Andaman, 155 farmers in KVK North & Middle Andaman & 150 farmers in KVK, Nicobar attended the event. By the end of the session, the local farmers not only understood how the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana scheme worked but also felt confident enough to share this knowledge with others in their community.
