
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 05: On 04/10/2025, the eagerly anticipated SP Cup Football Tournament–2025, organized by the North & Middle Andaman District Police, concluded with a grand finale marked by enthusiasm and celebration at Netaji Stadium, Mayabunder. Open to all categories, the week-long tournament, inaugurated on 26/09/2025 by Mrs. Lata Hegde Prasad, IFS, DFO Mayabunder, featured spirited matches, passionate crowds and an outstanding showcase of local footballing talent.
The final match, contested between Bakultala-FC and Divyanka-NFC was kicked off by Mr. Chandan G S, DANIPS, Dy.SP/DHQ & SDPO Rangat, in the presence of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur. Demonstrating determination, teamwork and exceptional skill, Divyanka-NFC emerged victorious, lifting the championship trophy to the delight of the cheering audience. The thrilling finale was a fitting conclusion to a week-long celebration of perseverance, talent and the unifying power of sports.
The grand closing ceremony, held at the Forest Club, Mayabunder, was graced by Mrs. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&MA District as Chief Guest. The event was further elevated by distinguished dignitaries including Mrs. Lata Hegde Prasad, IFS, DFO Mayabunder, Mr. Krishna Chaitanya, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Mayabunder; Mr. Avinash Chitagubbi, Commandant, ICG Mayabunder, Dr. Prabhu Ram, Principal, MGG Collage, Mayabunder along with senior government officials and PRI members as Special Guests. Their gracious presence added immense prestige to the occasion and served as a source of inspiration and encouragement for all participating athletes.
The ceremony featured a grand prize distribution, honouring winners and participants for their achievements. The evening concluded with a vibrant cultural programme and a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak on drug abuse, adding colour, joy, and grandeur to the event while leaving a meaningful message for the audience, a truly memorable celebration.
Organized under the theme ‘Nasha Mukht Bharat’, the SP Cup Football Tournament–2025 not only guided young minds away from drug abuse but also showcased local talent, encouraged community participation, and promoted healthy competition. The event reaffirmed the N&MA District Police’s commitment to youth engagement, substance abuse awareness, and sporting excellence.
