Port Blair, Apr 25: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today highlighted problems of people living in Car Nicobar Island and requested the Lt. Governor to take several welfare measures for the Tribal Population of Car Nicobar.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Mr. Sharma requested him to extending the time limit for submission of KYC forms for another six months; implementing of scheme of price support Scheme, 2013; minor renovation in MV Kalighat and replacement of vessels like MV Campbell Bay and SAMSUN in place of MV Sentinel for the welfare of the Tribal population.
Further to it, in his letter to the Administrator, Sharma also stated that since Tribal Society’s vessel MV Ebrahim Ali Hussain is deployed to meet requirement of the Islanders by way of carrying essential commodities and also it caters the need of IAF, Electricity Deptt etc, to avoid any delay for the special survey, he has requested to allow Society’s vessel for docking slot at New Marine Dry dock on priority basis so that the survey work is completed at an early date and the boat may be utilized for the services of the people Car Nicobar. Besides these, request for providing land line connection to every village was also placed.
