Baratang, 01 Oct: A massive protest erupted on the Andaman Trunk Road (ATR) on Monday as villagers of Baratang blocked the road to press for their long-pending demands. The high-voltage road blockade witnessed the participation of local residents, PRI members, and supporters who joined hands to raise their voices against poor civic amenities.
The protest, which was marked by unity and determination, brought attention to the long-standing grievances of the people, including the need for proper road facilities, improved water supply, and reliable electricity with reduced power cuts. Responding to the agitation, officials acknowledged these issues in writing, assuring villagers of clear time frames for implementation.
Villagers hailed the move as a historic success, terming it the “Victory of Baratang,” achieved through collective strength and solidarity.
Speaking on the occasion, Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang, Mr. Alager Swami, said, “This is not just a success for Baratang, it is the victory of our unity and the people’s shakti.”
