Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 25:The Swasth Nari, Sakhast Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA) has witnessed overwhelming participation across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, with over 12,214 beneficiaries availing a wide range of health services since its launch on Sept. 17.
The campaign focuses on strengthening women’s health and family well-being through diverse activities including screening of women for non-communicable diseases (NCD), anemia, TB, and sickle cell disorder, antenatal check-ups, immunization drives, awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, campaigns to reduce oil and sugar consumption, nutrition counseling under Poshan Maah, display of food baskets, blood donation drives, and enrollment under PMJAY and Nikshay Mitra.
On the 7th day of the Abhiyan, the Directorate of Health Services, in coordination with the Departments of AYUSH and Social Welfare, organized a series of impactful health activities across the Islands aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and community well-being. Comprehensive health check-ups were conducted by Medical Officers and specialist doctors, supported with necessary investigations provided free of cost. The programme also extended services to children and adolescents through health check-ups in schools.
In addition to that, the Directorate of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Departments of AYUSH, Health, RD & PRI and community members, organized a series of activities across the Islands to promote nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Highlights of the programme included community sensitisation on reducing sugar and oil consumption, a pledge by fathers on nutrition, awareness drives on ABHA and APAAR ID creation, ECCE/Poshan Bhi Padai Bhi activities, and ‘Vocal for Local’ campaigns promoting indigenous recipes and DIY toy making.
Key achievements of Swasth Nari, Sakhast Parivar Abhiyan (17th – 23rd September 2025):
• 16233 beneficiaries accessed services across 768 regular camps and 39 specialist camps.
• 890 Antenatal Checkups (ANC) conducted.
• 1389 Counseling sessions on nutrition and care held.
• 4751 Menstrual Hygiene Counseling sessions conducted.
• 130 units of blood donated during blood donation drives.
• 2,121 individuals screened for Tuberculosis.
• 84 family Planning surgeries
• 43 pregnant women vaccinated
• 353 children vaccinated
• 200 pregnant women tested for anemia
• 331 children tested for anemia
• 955 women of reproductive age screened for anemia
Key achievements of 8th ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ (17th – 23nd September 2025):
• IYCF & Obesity- Community Sensitisation session on sugar and oil reduction in which 5,243 beneficiaries participated.
• Men streaming- a community pledge by fathers on nutrition were conducted at which 2,528 beneficiaries were participated.
• Convergent action and Digitization under which the information has been provided for the importance of creating ABHA and APAAR ID in which 1,412 beneficiaries participated.
• ECCE/Poshan Bhi Padai Bhi- 4,005 participant were participated.
• Vocal for Local-Promoted Local Recipes and indigenous DIY toy Making-3663 were participated and got awareness regarding local recipes and toy making.
