Sri Vijaja Puram, Sept 25: Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang, Mr. Alager Swamy, held a detailed discussion on 24 September 2025 with Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director of Transport & Civil Aviation, on the long-pending transport issues of Baratang.
Dr. Sohal gave positive assurance on several demands, including the addition of more buses and mini-buses to ease both local travel and long-distance connectivity between Baratang and Diglipur.
He also confirmed that the long-awaited helicopter service from Baratang to Sri Vijaya Puram will begin shortly. This development is expected to significantly reduce travel difficulties for residents, provide critical support for medical and emergency needs, and offer direct tourist connectivity from Sri Vijaya Puram to Baratang. Officials noted that the service will also open new employment and business opportunities for local youth.
Describing the outcome as a “big day for Baratang,” Mr. Swamy expressed gratitude to Dr. Sohal for the assurance, adding that these steps mark strong progress towards the growth and development of the region.
