
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 21: The Assamese community in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands gathered on 20th September to mourn the tragic passing of music icon Zubeen Garg. Members of the community assembled in a solemn gathering, lighting traditional saaki (earthen lamps) and candles. They offered floral tributes to the singer whose voice was considered the soul of Assam. They also shared memories of a talent which is deeply rooted in the soil, rivers and heart of Assam.
Community members spoke with emotion. They expressed that the void left by Garg’s untimely demise cannot be filled and that his legacy will continue to inspire generations of artists. They sang one of his most cherished songs, “Mayabini Ratir Bukut”, creating a soulful and heartfelt atmosphere. His songs carry an eternal depth connected to nature, landscapes and seasons.
The members further expressed that while the loss is immeasurable, Garg’s eternal music will forever bind them to their roots.
